(b. 1992, living & studying in Ghent) I document and visually explore my personal surroundings and identity as a way of trying to understand and connect with it. The examination of the personal turns into something universal, so I’m not the only one trying to understand. I’m as restless as any person of my age, constantly figuring out how to share the things and ideas in my scattered mind. I primarily use photography, but I’m working on using other media to complete my concepts. This said, all you need to know about me is that I want/need to make beautiful and truthful things. Note that we may have very different ideas about beauty and truth.
Please vote for me if you’d want (I’d do everything for the Serpentine Gallery to notice me, they’re my favourite, including begging for votes. Plus, have you seen the prizes? The jury?). Excuses in advance for my blatant pretentiousness and stupidness, I don’t know how to do this and I hate writing about my work . And how cool is the hashtag #youngerthanrihanna? I’d love you forever!
Please bear in mind that both last series I posted are not at its best in a blog context (and definitely not split up, but I can only post max. 10 at once) and are also meant to compliment each other. There are two other things that go with both these series: a video (which I’ll post later this evening) and an old picture of me and my mum (which I don’t have the digital file of at the moment, sorry). I’ll post a picture of how I showed it at my jury last week, so you’ll have an idea how it’s meant to be seen. However, it still wasn’t how it should be and there will be some changes if I ever get the chance to show it again. I hope you can enjoy it nonetheless!
Eventually it didn’t fit in my current project after some discussion with my teachers (sometimes you have to kill your darlings) and I also didn’t get enough response. However, I’m planning to use it in the future for another project, so please, feel free to submit! xx
Would anyone, especially female(-identified), like to send me audio recordings of them talking about things they want to say (anything, really), or reading a poem you love or even wrote, singing a song … ? The idea is still developing but I need lots of voices already, they probably will be part of an audio-loop. It would be a huge help to me. This is going to turn out so good if it works out, I’d be very thankful!
You can send them to firstname.lastname@example.org
P.S.: Recordings in any language are welcome!
(Really sorry for publishing this so many times but this is really important and I need as many recordings as possible, I’m gonna bother you with this until I have enough, sorry about that and sorry to those who already did send me something and also thank you.)
i’m very sorry for not posting a lot anymore but i’m busy with a big project, which i hope will turn out as good or better as i want it to be. it doesn’t really work in separate images so i’ll share it all with you when it’s finished xx
